Types of Requests
Hold Request
You can place a Hold Request for an item that the Library owns. Once you place a Hold Request, a staff member will retrieve that item, reserve it for you, and notify you that it is ready to be picked up. Hold Requests are good for three days, after which the item will be returned to the shelf.
You can find items the library owns by searching the
catalog
.
ILL Request
You can make an ILL Request (Interlibrary Loan) when the Library does not own the item you want. Once you place an ILL Request, a staff member searches for the item at other libraries. Once located, the staff member will have the item sent to this library, at which point you will be notified that the item is available. Usually the item is available within two weeks, though that time can vary. Patron charges for Out-of-State ILL material include return shipping and may include additional fees from the Lending Library.
Please double check that the Library does not own the item by searching the
catalog
.
Collection Request
You can make a Collection Request when the Library does not own an item, but you think it should. Once you make a Collection Request, a decision will be made whether the Library could add that item based on the Library's
Collection Development Policy
, funds, and availability. If the decision is made to add it, you will be offered the first chance to borrow it. However, if the library does not add it, we will offer to obtain the item through Interlibrary Loan.
Please double check that the Library does not own the item by searching the
