Between the Lines

Between The Lines is the name for the Aurora Public Library District’s book discussion groups. BTL is a relaxed and friendly gathering of people who enjoy sharing comments, ideas and questions about a common book they have read. The group moderator engages the members in discussion while sharing background information about the author, story, time period and locale.

BTL meets January through October (Moores Hill through November):
  • 1:00pm the 4th Thursday of the month at the Aurora Public Library
  • 1:00pm the Friday after Aurora (usually the 4th Friday of the month) at the Dillsboro Public Library
  • 7:00pm the 1st Monday of the month at Carnegie Hall in Moores Hill (unless a holiday falls on that Monday, and then the 2nd Monday)

Since experience over the years has shown that the best discussions take place in smaller, more intimate groups - we limit active membership to 20. Realizing that not every member can attend every meeting, this creates an ideal discussion size.

Joining a book club may not change your life, but it will probably change the way you think about the books you read and the characters that inhabit them. Some of the books selected may not be what you would choose yourself to read – but that’s the beauty of a book club; it takes you outside your comfort zone introducing you to new authors and genres. You may even discover that your perspective on people and places in the world has been enhanced with new understanding. And you most certainly will meet new friends at the meeting.

If you are interested in joining a BTL discussion group, you can complete a request form at the Aurora Public Library upper desk, or submit this online form. We will contact you if there is space available, or put your name on the waiting list and contact you as soon as an opening occurs. Don’t forget to specify which library you would like to attend!
