Rules for Usage of Video Collection
- Videocassettes and DVDs circulate free of charge.
- A patron may borrow two (2) Videos and two (2) DVDs on their card.
- Overdue fee of $1.00 per Video or DVD per day will be assessed.
- Borrowers are financially responsible for loss or damage to Videos and DVDs checked out on their library card. Replacement cost will be charged.
- It is the parents' responsibility, not the Library's, to supervise their child's use of all library materials. The Library staff cannot act in "loco parentis" when children select library materials. Therefore, the Board makes the following option available, upon presentation of a valid Borrower's Card, the parent/guardian may request that the card be marked so that Videocassettes and DVDs are restricted from circulation on their child's card.
- The Aurora Public Library District is not responsible for damage to personal equipment including VCR, cassette players, CD players, computers, DVD players, or other equipment.
- Borrowers assume responsibility for any infringement of copyright or public performance rights while a Videotape or DVD is their custody.
Circulation Procedures
- Videos and DVDs circulate for five (5) days. If the library is closed on the fifth day, the Video or DVD due date would be the next library business day.
- Patron must show Library card to check out Videos and/or DVDs.
Return Procedures
- Videos and DVDs may be returned to the drop box.
- Suggestions for viewing--Lack of picture or snowy lines in the picture may sometimes be adjusted using the TRACKING on the VCR.
- Videos do not respond well to extreme heat or cold. They should not be left in a car during hot weather, or placed in direct sunlight. If a tape is cold it should be allowed to reach room temperature before being played.
